APPROX 11AM DAY OF COUNCIL

Katerina was doing god knows what when she spots Mahala carrying someone into the pub of the craft district, the quenching bucket, followed by B'Rock and Durnivir. The person being carried is Theobald Constantius Drizwold VI, the member of the council that was being used to get Tarloc's deals through with minimal scrutiny. (Theobald is a victim of traditional noble blood purity beliefs. [He's horribly inbred]) FROM DISCORD hey are the political power behind Tarlok. Though it seems some are being bribed & some blackmailed. They sign off on the deals that get marked by Tarlok & his group to ensure an easy transition. Theobald doesn’t know where the money gets redirected to, not what the purpose of use of it is. There are at least 12 politicians he knows of, including himself and Regis who was the fellow Mahala dismembered. Some may know more than himself but he just signs the deals. He will help pardon Nilus & with pointing out others in the organisation but only once he knows his mother has been freed as she has been taken by Tarlok. Mahala questions Theobald, he's being controlled by his mother being kidnapped/taken to their holiday home in the south Offers his driver at his mansion to get us there Durnivir make a handy weapon Then goes and inflicts more pointless violence on the autistic glassblower Sorrin backstory Sorrin stole emeralds from Soltin, and was killed for peddling fake emeralds Miners called Frostbanes in the Kethomis region, got Durnivir exiled for the fake emeralds Sorrin could duplicate emeralds

Mahala goes to Theobald's mansion to secure the driver for the following morning Chats up Trev the guard Gets a note back from the driver saying "I know what you're trying to do, Theobald isn't the smartest, but I'm sure I can help" and to meet outside the mansion at 0800

Katerina meets back up with Vanedir at the Lucky Penny following Vanedir's nap She asks him for help identifying a locket that contains something magical A large oval shaped silver locket On the front is grooves on the front panel in the pattern of a dahlia flower The grooves may be fittable with objects that have since been removed On the back is a coat of arms with the name "Mosswood" Mostly fiery red, flames at the bottom, top two quarters are white and purple Mahala, Durnivir, and B'Rock arrive back at the Lucky Penny Mahala is shown the locket bearing her name. It belonged to her mother It begins humming a lullaby with her mother's voice, ending with "I love you my sweet lala" It continues with "find the gems. The gems will open the locket" Mahala links with the locket, feels a presence protecting her. Katerina got the locket from a merchant, who in turn got it from a disfigured male tiefling Quite tall, covered in scars on his right side, especially face; metallic right hand Mahala appears to be aware of a disfigured tiefling, but not directly - an enemy of mother mosswood

Vanedir decides to try to get notes from Calyx and the Loxodon scribe before we leave on the rescue mission First visit is to the library - first manned counter has an elderly elven lady who tells us where he is Calyx is in the history of dragons section, reading "Gold Dragons: Why so rare and why are they good??" He's a bookwyrm Fuck's sake

Question the progress on the diary Tarloc is involved in a lot of things. Much of his diary is encoded. Calyx has made some progress, he once had a found brother, a halfling, who passed away. Since the halfling's death, Tarloc has vowed to avenge him, and has taken to a life of crime since. The pair of them came from a common background, him being able to read or write is surprising. The crimes involved are theft from businesses irregularly, blackmailing, money laundering, murders. Was previously brought forward to be trialled 2 years prior for murder, he was pardoned because there wasn't enough evidence. "(obviously)" He appears to have some control over the guards.

Next is a quick visit to the loxodon scribe to get the transcription of the evidence that was provided in the council meeting. This is a summary of the contracts and other documents.

Then another brief stroll out of the inner city to the mansions, one of which is pete's. Big mansion, smaller statue of pete outside it. Pete's mansion is plainer than the mansions of the human and dwarf, smaller, not fenced off. The statue has visitors, but not the mansion Well maintained.

We approach the mansion As we nearly reach the doors, the doors swing open There's a loxodon before us. He accepts our entry, trumpets a little A trampling of loxodon trumpet us inside. The full pete museum tour A bookshelf of diaries, outwardly dated. Fitzgerald is one of the loxodons The lead loxodon housekeeper is called phillip Jones is another housekeeper, a french tabaxi

The tour continues until we get to an armoury. Very bare, phillips' alleged shame Everything in the armoury bar a single sword was stolen 45 years before present. No evidence was found. Apparently only pete could ever wield the sword. Allegedly forged with the spilled blood of pete's father, who helped with the forging of the sword. The sword, when touched, burns Phillip. When touched by Vanedir, it feels cool to the touch. Inscribed in elvish reads "with elvish craft forgedblessed steel, with elvish courage attain rightout zeal with elvish vigor brings prologined life xxx With elvish might may you protect the weak with elivsh heart may you protect the meek….

a lot of text I couldn't type fast enough

After taking the sword and promising to retrieve the stolen armoury, we have a large dinner, and are treated well as we leave
