We continue from the morning

Nilus enters the tavern with a limp

Stinks a bit, some glitter, a lot of stuff

The news is broken that pernus is dead

Nilus doesn't take it well

He takes the armour

We plan to spend a day or to resting from our several days of travelling and fighting

Then travel back with him to Barthon

Durnivir sneaks into the cellar

Sorrin says the emerald is in a basement

Not this basement though

Sneaks back up

Two guards show up

A tall Triton and a short Tabaxi

The walk over to Nilus seeing his back

They need to take him to the council

So we go to see the council

Headed deeper into the city, past more and more affluent areas

Within the inner walls, we see a ruined tower

A large building with intricate stained glass windows depicting events in history

A castle-ish building, standing above everything, sturdily built, a military fortress

Katerina steals a pocketwatch from a civilian nearby

On an arch we pass through, we see an elf, a human, and a dwarf

The elf is Pete

There are plaques naming the three of them at the bottom of each statue

The Human is called Liam

The Dwarf is Dalavir

We approach a courtyard, huge, full of people, people who are dressed more modestly than the affluent areas we passed through.

The Council is within a mountain?

But carved out, so the sky is visible above once you pass through the arch

The council building is wide and short, with pillars outside it

Pure white, no real ornament upon it, quite plain

The Trystofnandi

The Unified Library of All Races

A large building carved from the mountain itself

Multi tiered

To the left as we enter

On the right, carved columns, holding up an intricate roof

A pantheon of every deity

The statuette picked up from the bandit cave does not resemble any of them.

Elf, dwarf, human deities in the back center, with the deities of all the other unified races surrounding.

We proceed into the council building, which contains an ampitheatre-like setup

5 chairs in particular raised above the rest

A halfling, a human, a dwarf, an elf, and a dragonborn seated in them

All of the other seats are filled with officials of some type

Stout Halfling - Felix Fartread, in farm clothes.

Human - Steven Corton, In plate with more ornamentation/honours upon it. High ranking in the guard. Bald, chinstrap beard.

Mountain Dwarf - Boldron Firehands, Dressed akin to a smith. Dark hair, wrinkled forehead, stripes of grey in his beard

High Elf - Felonaire, dressed plainly

Silver Dragonborn - Calyx Calmtongue, dressed smart

Nilus is presented to the council, and the room goes silent

Steven frowns, Boldron and Calyx look thoughtful

Felonaire speaks first

Thanking him for returning the funds paid for the reconstruction of the city

However, some of the funds were missing; several thousand gold pieces, multitude of gems, a third or so.

Questioning on the missing gold

All five appeared on the contract detailing the contents of the chest

But no other dodgy contracts

Vanedir speaks up on Nilus' behalf, presenting the evidence to the council

There is some discourse

We may be on track to look into the missing funds

Steven: "I did not want them in my city - our city"

Negotiations on payment for the job

Magical gear on success??

Nilus will remain under our protection

The session concludes

Boldron and Felix go off together

Steven hears about herb for the first time, and runs off to find out what's going on

Also to give orders to his trusted lieutenants to look into corrupt guards outside Nealonus

As people start to leave, Mahala notices some councilmembers who seemed worried when the dodgy dealings involving the bandits came to light, and tails them when she sees them go to leave.

They go past the library, towards a smaller archway which is guarded

Mahala cannot follow - Goes to the middle ring of the city, the crafts quarter.

Mahala social engineers them into getting information about the area

And heading through - friends with John the guard now.

The crafts quarter has far more wooden buildings, the few stone ones are the smithys

Sees the dodgy councilmen go down a dead end alley and disappear

Stakes the place out for a while at a glassblowers opposite the alley

Is trapped in a conversation with an autistic glassblowing savant

Back in the council room:

About 4500 gold pieces missing, alongside 1000 gold worth of gemstones.

On retrieval of said gold and gems, a reward of 1000 gold split between the five of us. As well as this, magical items to be bestowed upon us.

A sentinel shield, a decanter of endless water, an umbrella of featherfall, any light armour or crossbow, and an unbreakable pickling jar (possibly with a feather duster included)

We'll also receive a badge with the crest of the city - a marshall badge

We'll have to receive the badges from Steven at the Nealonus central barracks.

Also hand over the draconic diary to Calyx

Request copies and summaries of all papers and evidence handed over.

We leave the court - Katerina goes to sell the stolen pocketwatch Vanedir heads to retrieve the badges from Steven Durnivir stays around the central area with B'Rock
