A demon fiend allegedly unleashed upon Remlath 80 years before the party began their journey.

After this occurred, there was a large explosion & earthquake, splitting a portion of Remlath free of the continent, with Yeenoghu imprisoned upon this chunk of land.

This land became a barren wasteland.
